Manchester City beat Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night with the score of 2-0. Both Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus netted for their side.
After the game, head coach Pep Guardiola was critical of City's finishing, as he said:
"In general we played really well. We were not clinical enough up front, the actions in 1vs1, with the keepers and defenders - we have to be more clinical in this competition, you have to be better.
"But in general, no complaints given how physical and well-organised they are. They played with a diamond and put a lot of players inside. In general it was a good game. Kyle Walker was exceptional today with the way he played.
"It was the first step, there are many weeks until the second leg and now there will be poor, poor recovery for the game against West Ham in a few days.
"They are so good. Raz is so good, Phil [Foden] is so good, Gabriel's dribbling in the final third is good. In this competition we don't have much margin so the actions like we had 1vs1 and 3vs2 in those positions you have to at least finish the action and make the keeper make a save and we didn't do it.
"We created a lot of chances right there in the final third, the process was good, we committed central defenders but we have to finish better and in this competition you have to improve.
"They have to know that in this competition - because in the Premier League you can always drop points but you have a margin - but in this competition in this moment you have to be better. I know we have the quality to do it but today my opinion of the game is if there is something I would like improve it is that."
City's upcoming game is on Saturday vs West Ham as the Premier League action resumes.
