Manchester City are making their final preparations ahead of a Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend.
After three-game, Premier League Champions have seven points and will be looking for another three.
Ahead of the game against Brighton, City boss Pep Guardiola faced the press.
“On behalf of Man City family my deepest condolences to Luis Enrique and their family. We knew it was not good but you always dream everything goes well. I don’t have words. Hopefully, soon I can see him and tell him how I love him,” Guardiola started his press conference.
Premier League champions Manchester City were drawn alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta in the Champions League group.
“It is what it is. I didn’t watch one game against Shakhtar but last two season I didn’t watch Zagreb or Atalanta. I know their manager they had an incredible season. But I didn’t watch one game so didn’t give an opinion. We have to do what we do to qualify,” said Guardiola.”It’s important to win but if it doesn’t happen I will be the same guy. Wake up in a morning, eat good, love the people I love, it’s not going to change my life. I will do my best. When I say thank you for my time here it’s not going to change my opinion. We came and played the way we want to play and now we need to maintain that level.”
“Same day I arrived they said you have to win Champions League I said we would try. The same with Premier League. I am honest guy and there are incredible teams in Europe stronger than we are. One mistake in defensive areas and we are out. We are going to try the important thing is to be in the draw and we are going to do our best. Start in Ukraine and we will see if we are able to get to last 16 and of course, we want to win it but the same for the PL too. I’m not going to distract talking about Champions League ahead of Brighton. I’m not going to be just thinking about the Champions League for 11 months. Yeah, I want to win the Champions League, and the Premier League and the cup as well.”
On Brighton, Guardiola said: “
They have a new manager and some changes. They will play five in the back so they are more aggressive in terms of high press and they start quite well and last game against Southampton played with 10 men for 55 mins. Prepare for the game and try to win it.”
City boss confirmed Gabriel Jesus and John Stones are much better, but he doesn’t know if they’re available for tomorrow.
