Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hit back at Jurgen Klopp, claiming Liverpool had got what they asked for on a “very good day for football.”
Klopp and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho criticised the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) decision on Monday to overturn City’s two-season Champions League suspension due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) violations. Klopp called it not “a good day for football.”
“Always they are entitled to their opinion, Jose and Jurgen, but I tell Jose and Jurgen today was a good day for football,” said Guardiola. “A really good day. It was clear what happened. And that's that.
“I have my long history and a lot of respect not just for the managers of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool but for all the managers I face in the media and on and off the pitch all the time. But I don't expect them to defend my club. But I am going to defend my club in the good and especially in the bad moments.”
