Pep Guardiola has explained Manchester City's early struggles against Fulham before running out comfortable winners in their FA Cup clash.
The Championship leadersshocked the Premier League champions as they took the lead four minutes into the game when Harry Wilson found space down the right and played in Fabio Carvalho to lash home.
However, goals from Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones and a brace from Riyad Mahrez secured a win for the Cityzens.
Guardiola was full of praise for Fulham after the game and credited his players for responding when one of the manager's plans in the first half failed to come off.
"In the second half it was much better," he said.
"We adjusted our pressing that was not good in the first half. That was my fault because we expected one movement that didn't work and in the second half we adjusted a little bit and it was much better.
"The quality of our players made the difference. After two weeks off it is always a mystery as to how the players react and they fought and played really well.
"I'm very pleased to be in the next round because this round shows us how difficult is the FA Cup, many surprises right up to the last minutes."
