Pep Guardiola has used Liverpool's failed Premier League title defence as a warning to his Manchester City side going into next season.
The Reds won the English top flight title last season after 30 years, however failed to defend it this season due to poor run of form.
And with City suffering a miserable title-defence of their own when Liverpool were crowned champions, Guardiola has warned his side to not take their success for granted after reclaiming the title.
"Last season Liverpool were unstoppable, and everyone believed that this season they would be the same again," the Catalan manager told
BBC Football Focus.
"But that is a good lesson for us. Nothing is (taken) for granted. Everything can happen.
"Also we can have injuries next season, and we can have bad moments. That's why the warnings always have to be on.
"We have to connect in our decisions, and try to be consistent and competitive in the future."
"Every title is hard, but this for the situations, for the lockdown, and the pandemic situation, it was a little bit harder for everyone," Guardiola added.
"For everyone in our lives it has been a hard year, for many reasons."
