Pep Guardiola speaks out on Ilkay Gundogan ‘lack of mentality’ comments
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola says he doesn’t agree with Ilkay Gundogan statements. German international said after Tottenham Hotspur match that team lacked mentality and were not brave enough to beat their opponents. “Well, I think I do not agree with him (Gundogan). Absolutely not. When we conceded a goal, nothing happened.” Guardiola said. “In the second half we had the game under control, except the first five minutes. We did not create too much, but we were there. “For other games, that could be true. For example, we conceded 2 goals against Schalke in five minutes when leading 1-0. The game against Tottenham was much better. The difference was that in Schalke, Leroy (Sane) put it in the top corner from 30 yards, and against Tottenham we missed a penalty.” he added. Manchester City will face Crystal Palace before facing Tottenham for the second leg of UCL quarterfinals.
