Petr Cech breaks silence after making first Chelsea appearance in over five years

Petr Cech has admitted that it took some time to readjust to being back between the sticks after the 38-year-old made his return to football with the Chelsea development side. Blues legend hung up his boots nearly two years ago following a four-year spell at Arsenal and he’s since returned to Stamford Bridge as a technical advisor. However, Cech was a shock name on Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad earlier this season, with his inclusion causing confusion and excitement among supporters. After building up his fitness, Cech was back in nets as Chelsea took on Tottenham at Kingsmeadow on Monday night. The veteran made a shaky start as his sloppy pass out from the back resulted in a corner, which Spurs scored from. Cech admits it took him some time to get back into the swing of things but insists he was happy simply to be playing again after the 2-2 draw. "565 days after what I thought was my last game in professional football I had the opportunity to be back on the pitch…" said Cech. "It felt so strange for the first 20 minutes as my “match system” I used to have while plying regularly was missing but as the game went on the feeling returned ”match system” reappeared and it was great to have that special feeling again …. "Well done to my teammates for turning the game round ! It was great to get the win and 3 important points to go top of the league!"
