Pochettino to promote Tottenham youngsters rather than new signings - report

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly plans to promote three of the club’s youngsters rather than getting new signings. Spurs have suffered poor start to the season so far and have been linked with numerous players ahead of the upcoming transfer window in January. According to The Athletic, Pochettino is more likely to give a chance to the three Spurs youngsters: Japhet Tanganga, 20, (centre-back), Troy Parrott, 17, (centre-forward) and Oliver Skipp, 19, (defensive midfielder). Previously, the Argentinian manager stated that they do not want new signings in January: “No, I don’t believe. Really. I believe in the players we have, I believe in the players that are at Tottenham today,” he said. “I respect all opinions and I know they’ll be people that are going to say ‘we need to change or ‘we need to do something in or out’ but if it’s my decision, I’m going to stick with my players because I know they have the quality. It’s only to unlock some situations that are going on in their mind but we have great quality to be fighting for the things that we expect to fight for.” Currently, Pochettino’s team are in the 11th position of the Premier League table, following a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
