Chelsea set to face Leicester City in their next Premier League match on Saturday, February 1.
The Blues are in the fourth place of the Premier League table with 40 points, while the Foxes are third with 48 points.
Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has faced the press.
Lampard was asked about a possible transfer of Napoli star Dries Mertens. The journalist asked, is Mertens in? Lampard answered
“No”.
The Blues boss spoke about possible deadline day transfers:
“The window is 95% shut for us. The answer is probably no for the players you would ask about.”
It has been reported, that Olivier Giroud will leave the club today, however, Lampard said, the France international will stay at Stamford Bridge.
“No. He has been incredible as a player and a man during this time. Will he leave? No. He trained today. No ins and no outs,” said the boss.
On Tammy Abraham’s injury, Lampard said: “
He trained today and he has felt okay. We will test him in the morning. But it was a positive.”
Lampard was asked if he frustrated about not making any signing.
“I wouldn’t say frustrated. I wanted to bring players in, but I know how football has been,” said the boss.
The Blues boss spoke about Leicester City manager Brandan Rodgers: “
My personal relationship with him is more here. I have a huge respect for him. He produces players and coaches. His first-team staff shows that. He stuck out for his thirst for knowledge.”
