Paris Saint-Germain proposed Liverpool ace Virgil van Dijk with a contract worth an £280,000-per-week, an increase of £100,000-per-week on his current salary, according to The Sun. However, the defender decided to stay at Anfield and sign a new deal worth £240,000-per-week. Van Dijk is set to extend his stay at Anfield until 2025.
The defender will become Liverpool's highest-paid player in history, surpassing Mohamed Salah's current salary of £200,000-per-week.
According to The Sun, PSG made a contract offer to him before he decided to stay.
PSG are on the race for a new centre-back this summer. They told the Dutchman they were keen on signing him this summer and would offer him £280,000-per-week if he joined. However, Van Dijk decided to stay at Liverpool.
