Real Madrid have reportedly refused the chance to sign Bruno Fernandes for £64m because of Zinedine Zidane’s obsession of Paul Pogba.
Fernandes is currently playing at Manchester United after a £47m transfer move from Sporting Lisbon this January.
As Spanish media outlet
Diario Madridista claim the Portuguese club were ready to sanction his departure in the summer as they looked to raise funds and Zidane's side were offered first refusal and got quoted a £64m asking price.
However, the Spanish giants chose not to spend big having just bought Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
But it is also suggested that Zidane’s obsession with Pogba actually blocked Fernandes’ arrival.
The French manager is a huge fan of his compatriot andwants to bring him into his Real team.
Fernandes has impressed with his performances at United so far, while Pogba remains sidelined and hasn’t featured in a red shirt this year.
The Frenchman is out of contract in 2021 and there has been plenty of rumours of him leaving the Old Trafford, especially after his agent
Mino Raiola's statement of wanting to take him to Real Madrid.
