Roberto De Zerbi finally BREAKS silence on his future amidst Liverpool and Barcelona links

Roberto De Zerbi has admitted he is happy at Brighton & Hove Albion, despite the ongoing Liverpool and FC Barcelona links.

Both of the European giants are in the hunt for new managers following the departures of Jurgen Klopp and Xavi, respectively. The Italian manager remains the frontrunner for both vacancies following his impressive start with the Seagulls.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the 44-year-old expressed his dedication to Brighton's cause while keeping an eye on pursuing titles down the line.

“When I hear that big teams are interested in me it is an honour. I am proud, but my focus is on my work day-by-day. About the future, I will speak with the owner and with the club because I want to compete in the best way I can', the Italian claimed. 'I want to understand the plan, and then it is not a problem to work in a big, big team or another big team.

“I would like in my career to compete to win the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, Champions League but there isn’t a time when you have to go and compete, or to wait some more time.

Following Graham Potter's departure to Chelsea in September 2022, De Zerbi took the helm at AMEX Stadium. In his debut season with the Seagulls, the coach led the team to their highest-ever league finish, securing sixth place in the Premier League standings and clinching their maiden qualification for European competition.

Brighton advanced to the round of 16 in the Europa League after topping a challenging group that featured Ajax, Marseille, and AEK Athens. Currently, they sit seventh in the league standings, ahead of Newcastle United, West Ham, and Chelsea.
