Robin van Persie reveals why he rejected Man City for Manchester United transfer

Robin van Persie has revealed he rejected the chance to sign for Manchester City to join Manchester United to work with Sir Alex Ferguson. Van Persie was a target for both Manchester clubs after the Dutchman revealed his desire to leave Arsenal "I had two other options," he told sofoot. "Juventus and Manchester City. At this point, it is a reflection that begins, you weigh the pros and cons between the positive and the negative of each choice. But I had always had positive feelings towards Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United." Back in 2012, then Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed City approached the forward. He said: "It is true that Manchester City [were] interested in him and he has chosen to go to United. He could come out more on the reasons but I didn't want to know more about that. Does it hurt more that he left for another English club? That is not exactly what I wished! I hope the reception for him is a respectful one because he has played for us for eight years, he has done very well for us." Source: MEN
