Ruben Loftus-Cheek has serious decisions to make over his Chelsea future when the summer transfer window re-opens.
The 23-year-old was out-of-favour earlier in the campaign but Maurizio Sarri has praised him recently, labelling him as a “complete” midfielder last month and saying he could be one of Europe’s best players after his performance against Watford.
Loftus-Cheek has long been rated as one of Chelsea’s best up-and-coming prospects but a lack of first-team opportunities led to him joining Crystal Palace for the duration of the 2017-18 season, earning inclusion in England’s World Cup squad thanks to his form at Selhurst Park.
Despite featuring more prominently for Chelsea recently, Loftus-Cheek has played fewer Premier League minutes than 14 members of Sarri’s squad and has generally found himself behind Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley in the pecking order.
Chelsea hope to book their place in the Europa League final when they host Eintracht Frankfurt to Stamford Bridge on Thursday and ahead of the game, Loftus-Cheek has spoken out on his future.
“I’m not sure. I let my agent deal with it. I am not thinking about that right now and I am just focused on playing. There is no reason why I should think about leaving Chelsea. If I get a pay rise that would be great (he jokes),” said the player.
