Jose Mourinho has revealed he deserved his yellow card before branding a member of the rival club an "idiot" after Tottenham's 1 - 0 defeat to Southampton.
During the second half of the clash, shortly after Harry Kane's offside equalisier, Mourinho approached the Saints' bench, trying to look at their tactics on a piece of paper, which led the referee Mike Dean deserve the Spurs manager a yellow card.
Speaking after the match, Mourinho said:
"I think the yellow card is fair because I was rude, but I was rude to an idiot."
Kane suffered a thight problem in scoring the goal and was replaced by Erik Lamela. Mourinho admits it would be hard to have his players on the sidelines, with Tanguy Ndombele also picking up a blow in the first half.
"Harry Kane plays every minute, he plays all the time. It might be big, it might be small. For sure he will be out. Tanguy Ndombele, I don't know. I imagine this is the tenth injury of the season. They stop him to play. It doesn't give him continuity. We had three days between matches," the Spurs manager said.
On the defeat, he added:
"It was quite a strange game. We had no problems defensively. They didn't create great problems. We see the bad result today which is the continuity of the last year. For 12 months, it has been very difficult to get results away from home. The work is not about buying, it is about working with the players on the pitch."
