Daily Star suggests Liverpool are willing to cash in Mohamed Salah next summer to bring highly-rated Lille youngster Nicolas Pepe.
Journalist Duncan Castles thinks the Reds could be tempted to cash in on Salah for around £180m if he enjoys another strong season in 2019/20.
“
They obviously need a backup left-back to Andy Robertson. I think they need a creative player in midfield, as we’ve said before,” he said on The Transfer Window podcast. “I think it would help them to have another top-level forward of the similar type to Salah and Mane, and Nicolas Pepe is the clear candidate there.
“Just to put a marker down, I think there’s an expectation that Mo Salah might not be at Liverpool in a year’s time. From what I hear, Liverpool might not be entirely against that, in the sense that if Salah has another sensational season and they’re able to sell him to a Real Madrid or a Barcelona or a Paris St-Germain for €200m-plus, which would obviously be the asking price for a player of his quality, then they would have a replacement.”
Pepe has caught the eye of many clubs in Europe after scoring 23 goals in 41 appearances for Lille last season.
