Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken to Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho to assure him that a move to Old Trafford this summer is close and that he will become a Manchester United player in the coming weeks.
The Red Devils' negotiations with Dortmund have been slow and their hopes of a quick deal were shattered last month when United failed to meet the Germans’ £108m asking price by a deadline of August 10th.
However, United made a breakthrough with Sancho’s representatives last week over personal terms for both the player and the agency themselves, meaning a fee is the only obstacle left in the club’s goal of signing the former Manchester City winger.
Solskjaer has stayed in contact with Sancho throughout the summer but Norwegian outlet Dagbladet – who broke news about Donny van de Beek’s move to Manchester United – say the United boss recently spoke with the winger to assure him that a deal to Old Trafford is close.
It's reported Solskjaer told Sancho that he thinks a deal will soon be concluded, despite ‘difficult negotiations’ ahead.
The window shuts on October 5th and United are desperately trying to sell some deadwood, perhaps with a view to bolstering their budget to fund a move for Sancho.
