Tottenham star Son Heung-min apologized to Andre Gomes after scoring for Tottenham in the Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night.
Son’s challenge left Everton midfielder, Gomes, needing surgery on a broken and dislocated ankle during Sunday’s 1-1 draw.
The South Korean was sent off, but the decision has since been overturned by the Football Association.
After scoring his first goal during the Champions League clash, Son went towards the camera and said sorry down the lends.
Following the match, Son explained:
“I didn't want to celebrate because I just want to respect the situation. Of course, I still feel really sorry about this situation. It's been a few tough days. I wish Andre Gomes gets well soon and best wishes.”
Tottenham beat Red Star Belgrade 4-0 thanks to double of Son and goals from Giovani Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen.
