Soslkjaer makes David de Gea decision and speaks out on Martial, Rashford and Lukaku. Press Conference

Manchester United’s final away match of the Premier League season will be against already relegated Huddersfield Town. The Terries was relegated at the end of March, but the Red Devils still in contention for a place in the top four. Ahead of the game, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out to the press and first of all he has given an injury update. “Eric Bailly has probably been the one smiling the most out of all of us because you fear the worst. (about his knee injury). There are a few little niggles, so let’s count the numbers on Sunday morning I reckon. Mason Greenwood started off this week training but then he’s out injured again, unfortunately,” Solskjaer said. “We were looking at bringing him into the squad for the last two games - maybe he’ll make the last one.” Solskjaer has been asked whether David de Gea will play against Huddersfield after his crucial mistake during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last week. “I would think so, yeah, or he will play. Sergio was injured yesterday so didn’t train, tweaked his knee, so David’s been training well this week,” Solskjaer said. “He’s been fantastic this season towards the end now he’s been in headlines for the wrong reasons but he has to deal with that, the goalkeeping dept are fantastic, with Emilio, Sergio, Lee and David, tight-knit group, they’ve experienced better times than just now but he’s ready for Sunday.” The boss has spoken out on a lack of goals as Marcus Rashford scored only six goals and Romelu Lukaku did not score in eight games. “They haven’t scored enough on the chances we’ve created but that happens, at the beginning when I came in we were very efficient, chances created compared to scored and then the other side David was unbelievable, we had a few chances against us and didn’t concede, now that fortune has changed and the margins and details have gone against us, if you look behind results, as a striker, as a keeper you’re facing little margins there and we’ve been working on scoring and creating,” he said. A lot of fans saw a video of Anthony Martial not putting much effort in the warm and he hasn’t been scoring. Solskjaer has been asked is there a danger Martial has become complacent after his contract: “Anthony’s got goals in him, it’s up to us to move forward and get that into him again, so I’m sure we’ll see him scoring goals again in the future.” “In the long term planning we have to think about being in the Champions League next year, we might not be and you’d be surprised how many players’ agents have been touting., not touting, but telling us their players would love to be a part of Manchester United in the future, that’s the lure and the potential and size of the club, that we will get back to the good days. We’ve not got up to the standards we expect but it’s up to me and the club and a season without Champions League who knows but players still want to come to Manchester United and you wouldn’t be surprised by the names that ask,” said Solskjaer when asked if they have concerns that not qualifying for the Champions League might be a deterrent for players to join the club.
