Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reveals in a press conference that Harry Maguire will take part in the match against Wolves as the Red Devils kick-start the Premier League 2023/24.
"Of course" said the Dutchman when asked if the England international is available for the squad on matchday. Although the club has accepted West Ham United's £30m bid, Maguire himself is yet to agree on personal terms with David Moyes' side.
The 30-year-old's place at Old Trafford has waned, as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have solidified their roles as Erik ten Hag's preferred central defensive duo. The move by the Dutch manager to remove Maguire from the captaincy seemed to suggest that his tenure with the club was nearing its conclusion.
Reports suggest that West Ham hold optimism that he will recognize the advantages of aligning with them. Moyes is reportedly willing to bestow captaincy responsibilities upon the Englishman, especially in the wake of Rice's departure.
In addition, Maguire stands to gain from consistent starting opportunities, particularly considering the approach of Euro 2024. Gareth Southgate, has acknowledged that he cannot assure any player of a national team call-up.
