Leicester City's “irreplaceable” defensive shield Wilfred Ndidi is back from injury and made his first Premier League since September on Sunday.
In the four appearances since he has returned, he has played 220 minutes, and in that time, the Foxes have not conceded a single goal, with the Nigerian’s ball-winning abilities helping to guard the back-line.
For team-mate James Maddison, he feels more comfortable knowing he has Ndidi behind him.
“It’s really good to have him back,” the number 10 said.
“I feel safe when I’m in there with Wilf around me. It’s almost like he’s two players.
“What he’s really improved on since I joined the club is his passing ability. Forward, hard passes into me are something he’s really improved on.”
For head coach Brendan Rodgers, there are a multitude of benefits to Ndidi’s return. While his long legs help him get around the pitch, intercepting and tackling at every turn, his height also helps the club cope at set-pieces, where they have struggled this season.
“That mobility and athleticism in the middle of the field is so important,” Rodgers said on Ndidi.
“Having him back has been huge for us and hopefully he can stay fit.
“What Wilf gives us is pretty unique. He covers the ground, he’s so strong at counter-pressing, he’s so fast. At set-pieces he’s very dominant.
“He’s irreplaceable with what he gives you in terms of energy and desire to get the ball back. He’s a colossal player.”
