'They'll wipe the floor': Paul Merson drops SHOCKING prediction for Luton vs Brighton

In the buildup to the Luton Town versus Brighton clash, football pundit Paul Merson has unveiled his prediction for the highly anticipated match.

Luton have a chance to escape the relegation zone as they host Roberto De Zerbi and his side at Kenilworth Road in the 22nd round of the Premier League.

Both teams head into the midweek clash after advancing to the fifth round of the FA Cup and will be eager to maintain their momentum.

The Seagulls showcased an impressive performance in their last match, routing Sheffield United 5-2 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Under the Italian manager, the club remained unbeaten in six consecutive matches across all competitions, securing three wins and three draws since their 2-0 loss to Arsenal on December 17.

Currently standing in seventh place in the domestic standings with 32 points from 21 matches, Brighton shares the same points tally with eighth-placed Manchester United.

Therefore, writing in his Spotskeeda column, the pundit has stated his prediction, claiming his belief that the ground owners are set to celebrate 2-1 victory.

"Brighton are a pundit's nightmare as you never know what you're going to get from them. One day, they'll wipe the floor with anyone, but on another day, you'll see them lose a game they should have won. Luton, on the other hand, cause teams problems at home as we've seen this season, so something tells me they'll get a massive result here."

"It would be disrespectful to bet against Luton at home after what they've done this season and with Everton faltering in recent weeks, I expect them to make it count with a big three points."

Paul Merson's prediction: Luton 2 - 1 Brighton
