Manchester United are set to sign Donny van de Beek in the coming days. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been heavily linked with the Ajax midfielder.
They are now close to finalising agreement over a fee worth just over £40m with Ajax but are yet to agree on personal terms with the player and Van de Beek will have to undergo a medical. Talks between the two clubs expedited over the weekend.
Van de Beek, who registered 11 assists in 2019/20, laying on 1.8 key passes per match, could play in three different positions at the club. Here are three ways Manchester United could line-up with the Dutch star.
First is the position of the main attacking midfielder, which is his advanced role.
Van de Beek could also play in an advanced role with either Bruno Fernandes or Paul Pogba. This line-up could be used in a match where United are expected to dominate.
Finally, the third position for the Dutch midfielder could be a deeper role. It's a more traditional role for the player. He has scored more goals while playing as a central midfielder this season.
