The year of 2021 has definitely been full of amazing and unforgettable football matches. Due to coronavirus pandemic many sporting events have been postponed in 2020 and were set to take place in 2021. The year is close to it's end and it is a perfect time to remember the most exciting football games, that made all the fans once again believe in the magic of football.

10. Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City, Premier League, October 3

The new 2021/22 season has definitely started greatly with many memorable games already been played. One of them is definitely the highly-anticipated clash between Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City. The annual Jurgen Klopp vs Pep Guardiola masterclass that everyone is waiting for. And this year as well they didn't disappoint. The clash was as epic as expected with the sides were unable to find a winner. Following a goalless first-half Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 59th minute, however, Phil Foden equalised the score. After Mohamed Salah's goal, Kevin De bruyne equalised the score once again within 5 minutes. It was an epic game the Premier League fans will remember from this year.

9. Bayern Munich 2-3 Paris Saint-Germain, Champions League quarter-final first leg, April 7

This was surely one of the most memorable and fascinating games of 2021. Last year's Champions League finalists met once again and showed what the high class game is about. Kylian Mbappe netted a brace, while Marquinhos also scored to give PSG advantage after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller's goals. The game was a must-watch, which sort of predicted the more eye-catching second leg game. Even though Bayern won 1-0 the second leg, the Parisian side progressed into the semi-finals to face Manchester City.

8. Borussia Monchengladbach 5-0 Bayern Munich, Bundesliga, October 27

Perhaps, one of the weirdest games this season so far. Bayern Munich are the best club in Bundesliga, and barely anyone suggests the opposite. However, no club is assured to not have a bad game and lose 5-0. And Borussia Monchengladbach became the team to beat the reigning Bundesliga champions. Doubles from Ramy Bensebaini and Breel Embolo, as well as Kouadio Kone's opener handed their side a significant 5-0 thrashing win against Bayern Munich.

7. Italy 1(4)-1(2) Spain, Euro 2020 semi-final, July 6

Euro 2020 will surely remain a memorable tournament. After being postponed in 2020 it took place in 2021 and brought the fans some epic and exciting games and one of them was the semi-final clash between Italy and Spain. La Furia Roja were dominating the whole game, however, in the overall result they were drawing with the Azzurri. That led to a penalty shootout, in which Italy were handed a ticket to the final.

6. Italy 1(3)-1(2) England, Euro 2020 final, July 11

Finals are indeed, the most unforgettable games in football, and the Euro final this summer isn't an exception. Luke Shaw's early goal saw England lead in the score, however, Leonardo Bonucci's equaliser in the second-half led the game into the additional time and then the penalty shootout. In the stressful minutes Gianluigi Donnarumma made heroic saves to hand his country the desirable Euro 2020 trophy.

5. Portugal 2-4 Germany, Euro 2020 Group Stage, June 19

This summer's Euro was full of owngoals, two of which were scored in this game. In the death group of France, Germany, Portugal and Hungary, many exciting games were expected. And the teams didn't disappoint. Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Jota found the back of the net for Portugal, while Ruben Dias and Raphael Guerreiro with their owngoals, Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens scored for Germany. Unfortunately Portugal couldn't make it into the next round of the Euros but this game will definitely be remembered.

4. Villarreal 1(11)-1(10) Manchester United, Europa League final, May 26

Quite unexpected and wildly long Europa League final, that fans have witnessed. Gerard Moreno and Edinson Cavani's goals led the game to additional minutes and then obviously the penalty shootout, which was rather long. All of the players had already scored penalties and it was time for the goalkeepers to get involved. It was the moment where David de Gea didn't score and seventh-placed La Liga side Villarreal beat second-placed Premier League giant Manchester United.

Probably one of the most unpredicted results of the Premier League season so far. Manchester United's thrashing kind of started the downfall of head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and later led to his sacking. Liverpool are still enjoying an amazing start to the season, especially Mohamed Salah, who scored a hat-trick, as well Naby Keita and Diogo Jota found the back of the net. Things went even worse when Paul Pogba got sent off leaving the Red Devils with 10 men.

2. Argentina 1-0 Brazil, Copa America final, July 11

This game was a moment the whole football world was waiting for. Will Lionel Messi get a silverware with Argentina, or not? And yes! He did! After long years of wait, final defeats, international career retirement and return, one of the greatest players ever in the history of football, managed to win a trophy with his national team. Angel Di Maria's 22nd minute goal handed Argentina and Lionel Messi the desirable Copa America trophy.
