Many former Manchester United players who have played under Sir Alex Ferguson have now become managers. One of them- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is now in charge at the Old Trafford.
Former Red Devils centre-back Jaap Stam has held talks with MLS side FC Cincinnati about becoming their new manager, having previously been in charge of Reading and Feyenoord.
So here is the list of the Top 10 Manchester united players under Sir Alex Ferguson who later became managers.
10. Roy Keane

Keane’s post-playing career began with two short managerial spells. His second, at Ipswich Town, was a relatively unsuccessful two years, but his first job with Sunderland went very well. He took charge of the Black Cats when they were bottom of the Championship table, but ended up finishing second and winning promotion the same year. A mid-table Premier League finish followed, before things began to unravel for Keane.
9. Paul Ince

Ince has a spot on this list for the hard work he did lower down the pyramid before his difficult tenure at Blackburn Rovers. The former United midfielder dragged Macclesfield Town out of a relegation battle in his first managerial role, and then took MK Dons to promotion out of League Two - as well as win the EFL Trophy.
8. Ryan Giggs

Giggs' four games as interim manager at United were mixed, before he was offered the Wales job. They should have done better in qualification for the 2018 World Cup, although Giggs’s Euro 2020 qualifying campaign was impressive towards the end.
7. Bryan Robson

Robson did a great job at both Middlesbrough and West Brom before falling away. He twice took Boro from the First Division to the Premiership and reached both the FA Cup and League Cup finals in 1997. Almost a decade later, he kept West Brom in the Premier League despite them being bottom of the table at Christmas, becoming the first manager to achieve that feat in the Premier League era.
6. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Solskjaer won consecutive league titles with Molde in 2012 and 2013 - first titles in the Norwegian side’s history. Then bad spell at Cardiff City followed, although the current United manager is starting to find his rhythm at Old Trafford. Good form before the Premier League’s suspension put United in the driving seat for a top-four finish, enough to convince Ed Woodward to invest in Solskjaer long-term.
5. Steve Bruce

Bruce has reached the FA Cup final with Hull City, won promotion from the Championship three times, and most recently set Newcastle United on course for a better season than under Rafael Benitez. He has never been a fashionable manager, yet he has rarely failed in his task.
4. David Healy

The Northern Ireland legend has enjoyed a successful first spell into management in his home country with Linfield. He has been in charge of the club since 2015 and currently has a 64.71% win percentage from 238 games. Healy lifted the NIFL Premiership title in 2017, the club’s first in five years, and won it again in 2019. Linfield were five points clear at the top in 2019/20 before the suspension.
3. Mark Hughes

Hughes did well with Wales, famously beating Italy 2-1 in a Euro 2004 qualifying match and taking the nation very close to qualification, and was similarly impressive at Blackburn Rovers, twice finishing in the top seven and taking the club into Europe. He earned his move to Man City, but the club was bought out two months after and Hughes was inevitably let go a year later. Hughes then led Fulham to a top-ten finish, only to lose his job over links with a move to Aston Villa that never materialised.
2. Gordon Strachan

Strachan took Southampton to an FA Cup final and enjoyed success with Coventry City, however the reason he ranks highly here is winning three titles as Celtic manager between 2005 and 2008, which was the first time Celtic had won three in a row since the 1970s, and the first time any Scottish club had done it for more than a decade. During this spell, Celtic also reached the last 16 of the Champions League after beating AC Milan in the group stage.

Blanc’s three Ligue 1 titles - and 11 honours overall - with Paris Saint-Germain came during a period when the club were easily the most dominant force in France. But nevertheless his was an impressive side. He also landed the job after winning the title with Bordeaux and taking France to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.
