Each year we are seeing more than thousands of transfer in the football world. Sometimes players joining big clubs to up their careers, sometimes players from big club joining the clubs from lower ranks at the end of their careers.
We have seen transfers with record-breaking fees, for example, Neymar’s move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, in football history, there are transfers, that no one understands. Transfers when you are wondering why.

In recent years, it could be Andy Carroll’s move to Liverpool or Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United.

Ricardo Villa and Ossie Ardiles to Tottenham
Following the victory in the 1978 World Cup, Argentina duo Villa and Ardiles decided to sign for a newly-promoted First Division club. While Vila scored arguably the greatest goal in Spurs’ history, Ardiles has joined the Falklands War on loan.

Roberto Mancini to Leicester City
Former Manchester City boss and now the manager of Italy national team, Roberto Mancini made his debut in the Premier League at the age of 36. Mancini failed to last the whole 90 minutes and made just three appearances for the Foxes.

Gennaro Gattuso to Rangers
AC Milan legend Gattuso joined Rangers at the age of 19. After Walter Smith’s departure and Dick Advocaat’s appointment, Gattuso played as a right-back and after a year at the club, joined Salenitana.

Steven Caulker to Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp took him on loan from Queens Park Ranger and proceeded to play him as an auxiliary striker despite being a centre back.

Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez to West Ham United
Before making a move to Liverpool Mascherano played for West Ham and made just five apperances. His compatriot Tevez followed him to West Ham and made more appearances playing in 26 games. Following his spell at West Ham, Tevez joined Manchester United and then moved to City.

Famous Cambiasso didn’t afraid to join newly-promoted Leicester and has become a hero at the King Power. However, he left the club a year before the club won the Premier League.

Sir Alex Ferguson was famous for his rule to buy players after watching him live. Ferguson broke his own rule and signed Bebe. The player made just two appearances for the club.

Papy Djilobodji to Chelsea
Djilobodji joined Chelsea in 2015 from Nantes. He played just 62 seconds for the Blues in the third round of the League Cup away to Walsall, replacing Radamel Falcao in added time at the end of a 4-1 victory.
