Top 6 left-backs Liverpool could realistically target this summer

World football has to wait for its comeback after the suspension due to the coronavirus outbreak.  While there are concerns about the rest of the season, football teams still could plan how to return to the game, adding new fresh players to the squad. Liverpool is no exception, with the team having a lack of defensive options.  The Reds are leading the Premier League table with 82 points and are on their way to win the league title should the season be completed. And in spite of their recent success, they still have things to change in the squad.  This term Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were the only defenders to play more minutes than Andy Roberston. Meanwhile, James Milner has played a huge role in the team. However he’s not a natural full-back. Moreover, the club academy players are not experienced enough to fill the first team squad. Let’s take a look at six left-backs that should be in Liverpool’s wish list for the next transfer windows.

Matt Targett

Joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2019, the 24-year-old failed to sparkle in defence.  This term he has recorded two assists and one goal in 20 games for Dean Smith’s side.  Targett has been linked with the move to Anfield last summer, and could still be on the list of the possible signings, with the Villans likely to be relegated from the Premier League.  Potential Price: £10-15m Image Source: 7500 To Holte

Ruben Vinagre

In spite of his limited playing time with the Wolves the Portuguese defender has already been at the center of attention due to his Europa league displays.  This term the 20-year-old has scored two goals for Nuno Espirito Santo's side. Yet, he has impressed during the club’s 1 - 0 defeat to Liverpool back in December.  Vinagre could be another addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad, despite having a contract with Wolves till 2024. Max Clark

The defender joined Eredivisie Vitesse Arnhem back in 2018.  Regarded to be an exciting full back, the 24-year-old has scored once and assisted three times for his side.  Clark was linked with the move to Liverpool during the January transfer window. And the next transfer window could bring another chance for signing him, with the player being out of contract in 2021.  Potential Price: £8-12m Image Source: Irish Mirror

Layvin Kurzawa

The talented defender has won Ligue 1 three times and 13 senior caps for France, Yet, he is also the first defender to score a hat-trick in the Champions League (since it's 90s rebrand). However, this facts don't really tell about the defender's playing time with PSG. The 27-year-old joined the French side in 2015. Since then he had to face a number of injuries, moreover, struggle for his place in the squad. However, now linked with Europe's biggest clubs, Kurzawa could be another transfer target for the Reds should he stay fit and focussed.  The defender's contract expires at the end of the season. Pervis Estupinan

Estupinan has played a huge role in La Liga side Osasuna's game this term, impressing with his forward play and crossing. He has even attracted an interest from Atletico Madrid. It turns out that 22-year-old belongs to Watford and is part-way through a two-year loan deal from Vicarage Road. Osasuna have €10m (£8.8m) option to to sign him permanently.  However, things could end up, with the Ecuador international joining another European club like Liverpool. Gideon Mensah

RB Salzburg have helped to launch the careers of Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino. Mensah has all chances to be the next star, still on his way to make a competitive first-team appearance. The 21-year-old has already been linked with the move to number of European clubs, after his impressive performances against the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid. The youngster himself confirmed Barcelona and Celtic were among the clubs interested in him.  Mensah has been spending the season at Zulte Waregem in Belgium, while he earned his first Ghana cap last year.  The young attacking left back has all skills be on Jurgen Klopp's wish list for the upcoming transfer window.   Potential Price: £6-15m Image Source: The Scottish Sun
