Toto Wolff has revealed that he forgot that Lewis Hamilton was no longer driving for Mercedes during certain times at Australian Grand Prix.
During the weekend, Hamilton made his official debut for Ferrari following his blockbuster move in February last year.
It was am eventful race with rain and many drivers DNFing due to wet conditions.
Hamilton finished 10th with his new team, while his new teammate Charles Leclerc finished 8th.
“You know I was looking at the screens at times and the way I looked at it was like we had three drivers, because I looked at RUS, at ANT and at HAM," Wolff said, when asked what it had been like to not have Hamilton in the garage with Mercedes.
“And you realise HAM is with Ferrari and not us anymore. It was such a long time, it is logic – you cannot just say he is gone and you don’t care anymore. We very much care how he is doing, but obviously on track he is the competition and we need to beat the competition.”
Mercedes finished third and fourth as George Russell got on podium, while rookie Kimi Antonelli scored his first ever points in F1.
