Tottenham centre-back Eric Dier sends Newcastle warning after £300m Saudi takeover

Eric Dier has warned that Tottenham’s trip to Newcastle is set to be a difficult one after their recent takeover. Sunday's clash will be the first one for Newcastle United after the Saudi-led £300million takeover was completed. In an interview with SkySports ahead of the game, Spurs centre-back Dier voiced his thoughts on the takeover and warned his team about the expected atmosphere at the ground:
“I think obviously for us it [the takeover] does change things, it’s already a tough game you know, it’s always a tough game there.   “Obviously a huge footballing city, but I think the atmosphere is going to be incredible and that’s something we should try and enjoy and thrive off.   “But definitely, the game’s changed now with the situation they find themselves in and I’m sure the energy within that building has changed since then so that’s something we’re going to have to be ready for and match and hopefully we will.”
Dier also warned his teammates not to take Newcastle lightly:
“I think that a team that is doing badly is always dangerous because they’re that one result away.   “You know, they need that win and they’re gonna get probably hungrier and hungrier for it.   “So you know, they’re a very dangerous team in the situation that we find them, without a win and under the new ownership and the energy that’s probably in that building and that’s going to be in that stadium on Sunday.   “So we need to be ready for all of those things.”
