Tottenham handed big injury blow from international break ahead of Newcastle clash

Tottenham are set to face Newcastle United on Sunday, October 14 once Premier League action resumes after the international break. However, ahead of the game head coach Nuno Espirito Santo had been handed a major injury blow. Matt Doherty came off at half-time for the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday after picking up a knock in the first-half. The right-back joined Spurs from Wolves in 2020, but has struggled to hold down a place in the starting line-up under both Jose Mourinho and former Wolves boss Espirito Santo. Doherty has struggled to get into the side with summer arrival Emerson Royal holding down the right-back shirt and Japhet Tanganga also playing there at times.
