Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is the top candidate to take over as Tottenham's first-team manager next season, reports Tribal Football.
Previously, the celebrated head coach worked with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool. Alonso had a successful European career as a manager, winning the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich in his first season in charge, reaching the Champions League semifinals with Real Madrid in the 2020/21 season, and serving as an assistant coach to Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League triumphs.
According to De Telegraaf, a Dutch outlet, Alonso has become the leading contender to join Spurs, although Feyenoord's Arne Slot is also considered a strong candidate. The report also suggests that Julian Nagelsmann is not willing to commit to the job until Tottenham appoint a new sporting director.
As for former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, he is rumored to be heading to Chelsea and will not be returning to his old club.
