Two Premier League clubs, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keen to pursue Arsenal fullback Kieran Tierney.
The Magpies are leading the race to secure the signing of Kieran Tierney in a deal worth £30 million during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Tribal Football. Although Aston Villa has also expressed interest in the Scottish star, sources suggest that Newcastle currently hold the advantage in securing his signature. The Magpies possess the financial resources required to complete the transfer and could potentially entice Tierney with the prospect of Champions League football.
The 25-year-old Gunner has found himself playing as an alternate to Oleksandr Zinchenko this season, prompting speculation about his future. Manager Mikel Arteta's preference for an inverted full-back in the left-back position means Tierney is not considered part of his long-term plans.
Should Tierney make a move to Newcastle, it is likely that Matt Targett, who has featured in just 17 matches this season, will depart the club.
Currently, Arsenal is firmly occupying the second spot in the Premier League table, after a dream-shattering defeat to Brighton. Newcastle United comes next to the Gunners with 66 points, whereas Aston Villa is at the eight spot.
