Tyson Fury has spoken out for the first time about Dillian Whyte taking legal action against the WBC.
Fury and Anthony Joshua have agreed to fight each other twice next year, while Whyte stands as the mandatory challenger for the "Gypsy King". They were set to fight in February 2021.
Whyte has responded by seeking to assure his position legally.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman informed Sky Sports: “
There is a procedure with regards to the date of the mandatory in the heavyweight division. Upon direct advice of WBC legal counsel I am not in position to discuss any further.”
When asked about the situation, Fury told Behind The Gloves: “
He won’t get very far with suing because everything’s been put on hold, hasn’t it? It’s like the world has been put on hold, so everything has to move along with the holdback. I was supposed to fight in July, but that’s not happening now. I’m not going to sue from it because it’s the pandemic, and obviously I’ll get nowhere. But I’m sure his lawyers know what they’re doing with it all.”
