Virgil van Dijk finished second for the Best FIFA Men's Player award as Barcelona star Lionel Messi was crowned the winner yesterday in Milan, Italy.
Despite finishing second, Van Dijk has revealed that he is not disappointed with the result and insisted that he can't be compared to Messi.
"The people who vote made a decision and you have to accept it," Van Dijk told reporters.
"That's just the case and as players you can't compare me and Messi because it's totally different. I'm very proud to be here."
The defender's teammate Alisson Becker was named as Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper and Jurgen Klopp won the Best FIFA Men's Coach award as well as Van Dijk and Alisson made it to the FIFPro Men's World's Best 11.
