Chelsea have now officially announced the signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
The France international has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, which will being on 1 July 1.
As Nkunku is now a Blues player, there several shirt number that could be available for the 25-year-old attacker at the club.
During his time in PSG's youth team, Nkunku had a varied range of shirt numbers, including 7, 8, 10, 14, and 15. When he began his professional football career at PSG, he initially wore the number 24 but later switched to number 11 towards the end of his playing spell at the French club.
Since joining RB Leipzig in 2019, Nkunku has worn the number 18. The latter is currently held by Armando Broja at Chelsea which makes it unlikely for the French star to wear it at his new club.
There is uncertainty surrounding the futures of Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Chelsea. If any of them were to leave the club, their respective shirt numbers, namely 10, 29, 9, 22, 8, 16, and 12 would become available.
