Bruno Fernandes is set to become the new captain of Manchester United for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Harry Maguire has now announced he will no longer be the club's captain. He took to Twitter to share the latest news and his gratitude to the fans for their support during his playing spell at Old Trafford in the leader's role.
Maguire had held the official title of Manchester United captain for three campaigns, although Bruno Fernandes effectively took on the role last season in the defender's extended absence from the starting lineup.
During the club's pre-season victory over Leeds on Wednesday, Raphael Varane captained the team in the first half of the game, while Charlie Savage took on the responsibility of wearing the armband in the second half.
