The Women’s World Cup 2019, which is underway in France, has reached the knockout stages, with the final 16 National teams battling it out for the eight edition of the tournament.
USA National team won the recent title in Canada 2015 and they are now in the last-16 stage and will be looking to win their fourth title in history.

Germany V Nigeria
Germany take Nigeria in the round of 16. The two-time world champions will be big favourites to go through Quarterfinals. Manager Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s side beat China, Spain and South Africa in the group stage of the tournament without conceding a goal. Nigeria, meanwhile, made it through to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.

Norway V Australia
Norway captured two victories in the group stage and they will face Australia in the last 16 stages. Australia scored eight goals in the competition so far, however, they conceded five. Ante Milicic will have to look at their defensive problems. Norway, meanwhile, is a well-drilled and defence-first side and Matildas will need to work hard to unlock their defence.

England V Cameroon
England reached the knockout stages after they have won all three of their opening matches at the Women’s World Cup for the first time. Cameroon made it through the round as one of the four best third-placed teams. Cameroon are unlikely to have much success against England’s defence and will struggle to contain their creative player at the other side of the field.

Tournament hosts France take on Brazil in the last 16 round. France national team reached the knockout stage with three victories over South Korea, Norway and Nigeria. They scored seven goals and conceded only one. Brazil, meanwhile, reached this stage as the best third-placed team. Brazil forward Marta broke men’s and women’s tournament goal record with 16 goals but that’s not enough for Vadao’s side to reach the quarterfinals.

Spain V United States
The USA wrapped up the group stage with three wins out of three. Jill Ellis’s side will face Spain team in the knockout stages. Jorge Vilda’s side finished second in the group stage. USWNT are clear favourites to go through quarterfinals as they are looking to clinch the fourth title.
