FIFA World Cup 2022 is getting closer. Several months are left until football's biggest tournament begins in Qatar.
The qualifying round for the World Cup ended and there are several countries that pulled a surprise and didn't qualify for the tournament in Qatar.
Who are the 2022 FIFA World Cup absentees?
Erling Haaland, who has been a sensation in world football for the last two years, will miss the World Cup 2022, as Norway failed to qualify for it. They finished third in their group with 18 points, as they lost the last game, a 2-0 defeat vs the Netherlands.

Slovenia is another team, who didn't make it into the World Cup, ending up 4th in the group, so one of the highly regarded goalkeepers, Jan Oblak, won't shine in Qatar 2022 either.

Armenia had all the chances to qualify for the World Cup at the beginning of the qualification, having won all the first three games, however, back-to back home losses thrashed all their chances. So Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also miss his opportunity to play in the World Cup.

Teemu Pukki and Finland also missed the chance to play in Qatar, finishing 3rd in their qualification group.
In the same group with Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina ended up 4th, so Edin Dzeko will miss the biggest tournament in football as well.
Milan Skriniar is another name on this list, as Slovakia ended up 3rd in the qualification group.

In the African qualification, both Ivory Coast and Gabon failed to qualify, meaning Franck Kessie and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss the World Cup.

We won't be seeing Italy, EURO 2020 winners, in the World Cup 2022 as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to North Macedonia in the World Cup playoffs and didn't qualify for Qatar 2022. This means we won't be seeing Bonucci as well as Donnarumma Jorginho, Chiellini, Insigne, Immobile, and others in the biggest tournament of world football.
