Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal who is known to be an ardent fan of Real Madrid was spotted at their rivals Atletico Madrid clash with Arsenal.
Atletico were hosting the Gunners in the second leg of this tie, having drawn 1-1 from the first leg.and it was surprising for many supporters to see him in the stadium.
It seems that reports from Spain can give an answer to the question why he was there.
They claim Nadal was mingling with Spanish politicians at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfonso Dastis, Rafael Catalá, (Minister of Justice) and Juan Ignacio Zoido (Interior Minister) were all at the match.
Actors Clive Owen and Oscar Jaenada were also spotted in the VIP section.
The reason for Nadal’s attendance appears to be clear as the 31-year-old is in the Spanish capital preparing for the Madrid Masters later this month.
But why he was wearing the club scarf that he wrapped around his neck like a cravat? It still remains unknown.
Diego Simeone’s booked their place in the final thanks to a Diego Costa strike which provided a 1-0 win on the night and a 2-1 aggregate victory.
