"Wouldn't let me go": Ex-Liverpool man admits he was kept at Anfield against his will

Xherdan Shaqiri has opened up on his exit from Liverpool, claiming the club were preventing him to do so. The 29-year-old has left the Reds for French side Lyon during the summer transfer window after finding his playing time limited at Jurgen Klopp's team. Now the Switzerland international has revealed that he actually wanted to leave Anfield earlier than he did. “I wanted to leave Liverpool sooner, but I wasn’t allowed to; the club wouldn’t let me go," he told Watson and added: "The important thing for me is that I’m gone now. There were also offers from Spain and Italy.”
